The teaser for the beginning of the end of the Hunger Games franchise is a thinly veiled threat against rebellion provided by President Snow (Donald Sutherland). Bookending the President are captives Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Johanna (Jena Malone) as Snow tells the citizens of Panem that they have never been more unified. A funny sentiment given all the armed men filling out the frame.
Snow’s address is interrupted by a pirate transmission from District 13 as he sells a brighter future. The message, provided by Beetee (Jeffrey Wright), is short, yet significant. “The Mockingjay lives.”
Mockingjay Part One won’t be released to the public for another four months, but the build-up for one of this year’s biggest blockbusters is just getting started. Comic-Con starts in two weeks and Lionsgate will undoubtedly show more footage to eager fans in San Diego then. Until then, enjoy this dystopian public service announcement.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One hits theatres November 21st.
