The trailer for director Jason Reitman‘s upcoming Labor Day debuted online today in lieu of Paramount’s Christmas Day release. The Christmas day slot is a coveted one and if Juno, Thank You for Smoking and Up in the Air have proved anything it’s that any film by Reitman is an anticipated one. Labor Day received good word from critics at the Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals, so here’s hoping that the film lives up to the expectations.
Based on the novel by Joyce Maynard, Labor Day features Kate Winslet as depressed single mother, Adele, who along with her young teenage son Henry (Gattlin Griffith) have their lives changed forever when they offer a wounded man a ride. The man (played by Josh Brolin) reveals himself to be an escaped convict, who takes the family hostage during Labor Day weekend.
Labor Day stars Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin, Clark Gregg, Gattlin Griffith and Tobey Maguire. The film hits theatres in limited releases on December 25th and goes wide on January 31st.
