Catching up with Academy Award nominees is a difficult proposition for movie fans, tickets cost nearly $10 a pop and stretching your dollar to watch nine Best Picture contenders is more than a little difficult. To help movie fans out at this special time of year, the folks at MoviePass are looking to giveaway a free year’s subscription to one lucky Movie Mezzanine reader.

MoviePass is a great way to stretch your entertainment budget without sacrificing your passion for going to the movies and catch up on your Oscar favorites before the Awards show, March 2nd.

For those unfamiliar with MoviePass, think of it as “Netflix-like experience” for the moviegoer as it allows you to see a brand new movie in theaters every single day for a flat monthly rate. And it’s super easy to use! Just login to the MoviePass app, select your movie and showtime, swipe your MoviePass card at the kiosk and enjoy the show! And the best part is that it works at 95% of theaters nationwide. Click here to find theaters near you.

To be eligible to win, leave a comment below explaining what Oscar hopeful you would want to catch up with first and one reader will be selected at random to win the MoviePass subscription for a year!

Contest ends February 14th, winner will be notified via email.

I would love to catch up with 12 Years a Slave. Such an important film with great performances!

  2. Joaquín Diego Chávez on January 31, 2014 at 10:21 AM said:

Nebraska is about the only best picture nominee I haven’t seen that I am interested in. Hopefully catching it soon since it’s showing nearby.

  3. Tom on January 31, 2014 at 10:31 AM said:

I’d first want to see Captain Phillips, mostly because it’s been praised but also because it would serve as an interesting companion piece to A Hijacking, which I loved.

  4. Sean on January 31, 2014 at 10:33 AM said:

I really want to rewatch Her and Gravity before they leave the theater, but the one I want to see for the first time is American Hustle.

  5. Dan Heaton on January 31, 2014 at 11:07 AM said:

I’m intrigued to catch up with Gravity, which has been re-released in theaters. I’ve heard it’s one of those films that you really need to see on the big screen, and I love Cauron’s work. It’s also rare to see such a high-profile film that takes place in space getting so much awards consideration.

  6. Shaw on January 31, 2014 at 12:58 PM said:

After seeing all the nominees, I would like to rewatch Her because I find it immensely fascinating how humans are dating their OS and not wearing belts. #teamsamantha #teamnobelts

  7. Zed on January 31, 2014 at 2:56 PM said:

I’d love to rewatch 12 Years A Slave, Nebraska, and Her. As for the ones I haven’t seen, I’m most looking forward to Wolf of Wall Street.

  8. Hera on January 31, 2014 at 3:27 PM said:

I’m planning to re-watch 12 Years a Slave (after I’ve emotionally prepped myself). Hoping to catch up with Nebraska and Philomena, as well. And interested to see the full 4-hour version of Wolf of Wall Street.

  9. Steven Flores on January 31, 2014 at 4:54 PM said:

I would like to see “Her” win Best Picture as well as Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor. Plus, I would want “Before Midnight” to win Best Adapted Screenplay. I’m also hoping Chivo gets the Best Cinematography prize for “Gravity”.

  10. Jordan Biagomala on January 31, 2014 at 6:35 PM said:

I plan on seeing “Her’ and “12 Years a Slave”

  11. Shawn Stubbs on February 1, 2014 at 10:06 PM said:

I still have to see Nebraksa, Dallas Buyers Club, and Philomena.

  12. Katie K. on February 2, 2014 at 8:15 AM said:

I would catch up with Cate Blanchett from BLUE JASMINE, because she’s absolutely radiant in the film.

  13. Eric on February 4, 2014 at 11:22 AM said:

I’d like to catch up with Captain Phillips, which I still regret missing during its original theatrical run.

  14. Scott Trego on February 10, 2014 at 8:16 PM said:

Oh so many choices… PHILOMENA, AMERICAN HUSTLE, and MANDELA were my favorites thus far from the Oscars. However INSIDE LLYWN DAVIS and RUSH are my favorite unsung movies this year. Sometimes the best movies are the ones that don’t win any major awards and simply tell a good story.

  15. Colin Biggs on February 14, 2014 at 3:55 PM said:

The winner has been notified. Thank you all for entering.

  16. Brandon Leibowitz on February 19, 2014 at 3:28 PM said:

Awesome contest I hope I can win next time 🙂
