One of many films to get their premier at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Theory of Everything, has seen its first trailer released. The film begins with the collegiate years of one of the world’s greatest living minds, Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne).
A once healthy, young man with limitless potential becomes filled with despair from a catastrophic diagnosis at the age of 21. The Theory of Everything is more than the story of one man’s ability to continuously fight impossible odds, but it is also a story of devotion with the love of Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones) on his side.
Theory of Everything is based on the memoir Traveling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Hawking and directed by James Marsh. Marsh is best known for his documentary films Man on Wire and Project Nim, so it will be interesting to see what he can do with a narrative feature. The trailer shows what most pundits already assumed about the film. Eddie Redmayne has the perfect role to bring him acting acclaim and we can expect a story of overcoming the odds.
Theory of Everything opens on November 7th following its premier at TIFF September 7th.
