Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike weren’t featured in the teaser poster for the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl in March, but the theatrical one-sheet places a premium on names. This new poster also spouts “from the director of Fight Club and The Social Network,” which makes it seem like Twentieth Century Fox had a little more say in this iteration of marketing.
The design of the teaser was a pretty ballsy move on the part of David Fincher. No title, no listed actors (not even the future Batman), only a release date along with the ticker-tape mention of the disappearance of a local woman. Fans are eagerly anticipating Fincher’s newest pitch-black comedy, but critical word is coming soon. Reviews will start once Gone Girl starts making appearances on the festival circuit and press screenings throughout the fall.
The film stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Missi Pyle, Patrick Fugit, Casey Wilson and Emily Ratajkowski. Gone Girl hits theatres October 3rd.
