We haven’t seen much footage of Foxcatcher – just one teaser before today’s – but the few glimpses we’ve got at Bennett Miller’s (Moneyball, Capote) latest film are nothing short of captivating. It follows the true story of Olympic Wrestling Champion brother Mark (Channing Tatum) and Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo) and their troubled relationship with paranoid schizophrenic millionaire John du Pont (Steve Carell), who eventually murdered Dave on his estate.
I don’t want to get any awards hype going before most of us have even seen the film, but could we be saying “Oscar Nominated Actor Channing Tatum” soon? Sony will of course be pushing a nod for Carell and most other departments – especially Miller after his Best Director win at Cannes – but it doesn’t seem too far of a stretch for them to campaign on Tatum’s behalf either. Tatum is at a rare peak creatively and commercially in his career, and his performance in this film looks to be going to new depths and extremes he’s never gone to before.
Foxcatcher will be released Nov. 14th. It stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller & Anthony Michael Hall. Check out the teaser below.
