Steve McQueen’s period piece 12 Years A Slave, adds another #1 spot under its belt, followed closely the third installation in Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy, Spike Jonze’s futuristic love story, Her, the awe-inducing Gravity and the film that everyone can’t stop talking about, The Wolf of Wall Street. The next film on the list however is a little more of a surprise with Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained taking the sixth spot. Even more surprising is that the film was also selected as 2013’s Most Popular Film trailed by blockbusters Gravity, Iron Man 3 and Pacific Rim. “Based on sheer volume of activity, the most popular film was late-2012’s Django Unchained, which was omitted from previous year’s roundup due to its very late December release date. Quentin Tarantino’s film cast a long shadow over the year holding a top-five spot from January through May.”
Inside Llewyn Davis, Short Term, 12 Captain Phillips and Blue is the Warmest Color round out the ten. The Act of Killing and Blue is the Warmest Color were named Highest Rated Documentary and Foreign film. Also worth mentioning, James Franco and Melissa Leo topped the most watched actor and actress categories while Scary Movie V earned the distinction of being the worst movie of the year, beating out Movie 43 and the infamous Sharknado.
