Jennifer Aniston to Deal with Some Middle-Aged Plastics in ‘Mean Moms’

Yes, the brilliance of 2004’s Mean Girls has to do a lot with Tina Fey’s masterful writing and the performances of the film’s talented cast — including Lindsay Lohan, Amy Poehler, Rachel McAdams, Lizzy Caplan and Amanda Seyfried. But Fey’s script was also based in part on Rosalind Wiseman’s “Queen Bees and Wannabes,” a non-fiction book that helped its readers deal with the horrid realities of being — and interacting — with teenage girls in their everyday lives.

Wiseman also wrote “Queen Bee Moms and King Pin Dads: Dealing With the Parents, Teachers, Coaches and Counselors Who Can Make — or Break — Your Child’s Future,” which serves as a follow up to her hit book in dealing with terrible adults. Jennifer Aniston is now in talks to star in the film adaptation of the book, which, you guessed it, is being dubbed Mean Moms.

Mean Moms, directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller (Modern Family, 30 Rock), is not a sequel to Mean Girls, but it does explore some of the same themes as its predecessor. Aniston will play a suburban mother who has to deal with the grown-up versions of The Plastics who inhabit her neighborhood. It’s easy to imagine a legion of Real Housewives-esque women trying to bully her while flaunting her lives. How perfect would it be to see Amy Poehler reprise her role as Regina George’s perfectly oblivious, Juicy sweatsuit-wearing, rock-chested mother as one of the “mean moms?”

Aniston has been on a successful comedy streak lately, starting with a demented dentist in Horrible Bosses and playing a sort-of mom, also stripper who could hold her own against Jason Sudeikis in last year’s We’re the Millers. She’ll easily be able to take down any Plastic moms who get in her way. And if the film is anything like Mean Girls, it should be a hit. Well, strike that; I forgot about the unfortunate, technical existence of a film called Mean Girls 2.
