Villains are showy creatures by nature, often overtaking the heroes of their respective stories in popularity due to their memorable lines, or the way they haunt viewers long after the credits have rolled. There are no shortage of morally repugnant characters in cinema and debate rages on as to who is the most evil. Looking to partially solve that dilemma, the New York Film Academy added their thoughts to the public conversation.
According to the New York Film Academy, these are the darkest characters in the history of cinema. The creators of the list would like to stress that the list is “in no particular order and if you feel like we’ve left out one of your favorite dark characters, let us know in the comments below.”
