The complete lineup for the 2013 AFI Fest were recently announced and its quite an exhaustive selection of some of the year’s best films. The event takes place November 7th – 14th and features 119 films representing 43 countries.
Some of the Galas previous announced include; August: Osage Country, Inside Lleywn Davis, The Last Emperor (3D presentation), Lone Survivor, Nebraska, Out of the Furnace, Saving Mr. Banks, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. A few of the world cinema titles also showed earlier this year and created quite a bit of buzz for themselves. Those titles include; Gloria, Omar, Stranger by the Lake, Like Father Like Son, Manakamana, and Hayao Miyazaki’s final film The Wind Rises.
AFI will also screen a new restoration of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (Les Parapluies de Cherbourg) and a special showing of Mary Poppins. I wonder why they would make that selection.
