One film that was generating a lot of noise out of Sundance was the film, Frank. The odd and unforgettable musical-comedy starring Michael Fassbender in a mask, made a big impression with its focus on being a musician and creating art. Perhaps it was even more notable for the one film where Michael Fassbender was able to perform in a comedic role.
Frank co-stars Domhnall Gleeson (About Time) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (White House Down) and is directed by Leonard Abrahamson. It follows the journey of Jon, a musician looking for his big break playing keyboard for the cult band Soronprfbs. This band is led by Frank, who just so happens to have a papier mâché head covering his entire face. Jon goes on a retreat with the band and it’s shall we say an adventure.
Frank was acquired by Magnolia Pictures shortly after the festival. While they haven’t set a release date just yet, hopefully it is right around the corner. Check out the new photos from Frank below.
