There’s nothing like a good team. Astaire and Rogers. Redford and Newman. Hope and Crosby. Some of the most prolific film duos of all-time. Just where Kidman and Firth will land is anyone’s guess, but they will team up again for Before I Go To Sleep.
Based on S.J. Watson’s bestselling novel, Before I Go To Sleep follows a woman (Kidman) who awakes each morning with memory loss. Having apparently suffered a trauma, her husband (Firth) daily explains to her that she isn’t well and she needs to stay home. When she starts seeing a new doctor (Mark Strong), together they start to put her memories together. Perhaps her husband isn’t the man she thought he was.
Before I Go To Sleep is directed by Rowan Joffe (writer of 28 Weeks Later) and is produced by Ridley Scott. With this level of talent involved, it should add up to more than the sum of its parts. Sounds like a much more serious version of 50 First Dates, just hopefully a whole lot better. Kidman and Firth can be currently seen in The Railway Man and it was recently announced they will be together in the upcoming Michael Grandage film, Genius.
