Like a nostalgic teenager mourning summer’s loss mere weeks after being so excited for fall and hoodies and pumpkin spice lattes, George Clooney has apparently just given his calendar a triple-take and thought, crap, it’s almost NOVEMBER? When did THAT happen? But time waits for no one, not even George Clooney, whose forthcoming film The Monuments Men, originally scheduled to release on December 18th, will continue to remain forthcoming until early next year.
According to the Los Angeles Times, The World War II-era drama about a merry band of weapons-toting art historians and curators on a mission to save works of art from destruction by the Nazis will not meet its deadline due to effects work and scoring that have yet to be completed.
The film’s new release window–said to be an unspecified date in February by Clooney and some time in Q1 2014 by Sony, the film’s studio–will effectively remove it from this year’s Oscar race. That, of course, means that it will be included in next year’s Oscar race, testing the very limits of Academy voter’s memories and securing its spot on various bloggers ‘Top 10 Oscar-Worthy Films That Didn’t Come Out in The Same Two Months Every Other Oscar-Worthy Film Does” lists.
