Fresh out of Middle Earth come six new images from Peter Jackson’s anticipated second installment of The Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Thanks to The Playlist and a somewhat weird promotion from Entertainment Weekly‘s Facebook fanpage, we now have a close look at Orlando Bloom reprising his golden-haired role as Legolas, Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel, Lee Pace as Thranduil and Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman.
For those not in the know, The Desolation of Smaug takes up where The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey left off. Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and crew are still slowly but surely making their way to the Lonely Mountain, where they are attempting to uproot the dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch) and reclaim the territory for the dwarves. Along the way, they must continue their journey through the forest of Mirkwood and other lands, where they meet the characters shown in the new stills. There’s that tiny detail of a terrifying Necromancer on the loose as well.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is in theaters December 13th. Check out the new images below:
