The 8th edition of the Rome Film Festival will kick off on 8 November and will run through 17 November 2013. Among some of the names that will walk on one of the world’s largest red carpets are those of Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lawrence, Rooney Mara, Jared Leto and Liam Hemsworth.
The Official Selection of the Festival is composed of an international Competition, an Out of Competition section, the CinemaXXI competitive section that is dedicated to new trends in world cinema and the Prospettive Doc Italia competition that is a survey of new directions in Italian documentaries. This year’s international Competition program’s lineup is made up of world and international premieres and includes Isabel Coixet’s Another Me, Tayfun Pirselimoglu’s I’m Not Him, Mirko Locatelli’s Foreign Bodies, Dallas Buyers Club by Jean-Marc Vallee, Paulo Morelli and Pedro Morelli’s Sheep’s CLothing, Kiarash Asadizadeh’s Acre, Her by Spike Jonze, Jian Cui’s Blue Sky Bones, Michael Rowe’s Manto Acuifero, Takashi Miike’s The Mole Song-Undercover Agent Reigi, Out of the Furnace by Scott Cooper, Quod Erat Demonstrandum by Andrei Gruzsniczki, Seventh Code by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Sorrow and Joy by Nils Malmros, Take Five by Guido Lombardi, Alberto Fasulo’s Tir, Vítor Gonçalves’ The Invisible Life and last but not least, Diego Ayala and Anibal Jofré’s Cut Down Kite. Moreover, there is also Alice nella città, the festival’s parallel and independent sidebar that organizes a program of films for young people and follows its own regulations. We should not forget to mention either that the Rome International Film Market “The Business Street and New Cinema Network” will also take place from 13 to 17 November and will stake out a strategic position in the Italian and international calendar of industry events, thus making Rome, an ideal commercial platform for launching new films, both in Italy and abroad.
