Ever the constant worker, Woody Allen is gearing up for his next film to shoot sometime in July. In typical Woody Allen fashion there are no plot details at this time, only that Joaquin Phoenix will be taking on the lead role. Adding to theories surrounding what exactly the film will revolve around, it seems that the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is in contention to be Allen’s next foreign set film.
Even in Woody Allen’s worst work, he has still managed to pull together an excellent cast. It looks like he’ll be continuing that trend with Phoenix leading the pack. Phoenix is certainly at a prime in his career with stellar performances in The Master and Her and reunites later this year with Paul Thomas Anderson for Inherent Vice. Allen has also been on a bit of a hot streak with Midnight In Paris and Blue Jasmine among his best in his filmography, and hopefully that spark of creativity will continue to shine.
Hopefully with the start date in July we’ll hear more about casting and plot sometime soon. Allen’s next film is Magic in the Moonlight starring Emma Stone and Colin Firth and will be released July 25th this year.
