Earlier this month The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced a shortlist (which was in actuality, a very long list) of 114 scores in contention for Best Original Score. On that list was Italian artist Kristian Sensini, responsible for the lovely work on Latvia’s entry for Best Foreign Language film, Rocks in My Pockets.
We’ve embedded a couple of tracks for your listening pleasure below:
In a recent discussion with Sensini he explained, “I’m extremely lucky that I got the opportunity to work with Signe who has a very vivid, honest, daring and inspiring approach to sharing how she and her loved ones struggle with mental illness.” “Knowing that so many people suffer from depression, ‘Rocks in My Pockets’ is an important film and I’m proud that it has gotten the recognition it deserves. I’m also ecstatic that the score itself could be an Academy Award nominee.”
