No, that last word isn’t a typo, that’s actually the title. The mispelling is intentional for whatever reason. Apparently after passing on True Detective Season 2, Christian Bale instead has his eye on playing a different type of detective for James Mangold’s (The Wolverine, Walk the Line) upcoming adaptation of the John D. McDonald novel The Deep Blue Good-By.
The plot follows Travis McGee, a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He only works when his cash runs out, and his fee is that he’ll help you find whatever you need as long as he can keep half. This particular case has him tracking down a brutal man named Junior Allen who beats women and leaves them for dead.
I’m always down for just about anything with Christian Bale, and seeing him reteam with James Mangold after 3:10 to Yuma would be a welcome reunion. It’s unknown when this project would film – its probably waiting to see if Bale will sign, but luckily does have a script from Dennis Lehane – but they would have to work around Mangold’s untitled Wolverine sequel set to come out March 3, 2017. They would either have to start filming within the next 6 months or wait 3 more years. Hopefully this intriguing teamup will come to theaters sooner than later.
