The Hateful Eight has had a turbulent existence in the brief time it was introduced to the world. Quentin Tarantino’s script leaked, with some help from Gawker, which resulted in a lawsuit and Tarantino claiming that a film would never be made from his screenplay. The auteur eventually changed his mind after a live-read of the script at LACMA proved popular and soon Kurt Russell was telling morning news shows that a film version would start shooting in early 2015.
Tarantino eventually confirmed this himself at Comic-Con saying “Yeah – We’re going to be doing The Hateful Eight.” The Hateful Eight follows a group of passengers on a stagecoach that get caught and trapped in a blizzard, where they’re forced to confront each other inside of one small hotel. Actors involved at the stage reading included Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, Michael Madsen, James Remar, Walton Goggins, Zoe Bell, and Samuel L. Jackson. It is assumed that they will reprise those roles for the film.
This is all incredibly exciting for fans of Tarantino’s work, but the most exciting aspect is hidden in the poster for the film below. See that in the bottom right-hand corner? Yep, those lucky enough to live near theatres that have Cinemascope screens can watch the film in glorious 70mm.

Very glad he’s committed to this, and even more excited to find out where the nearest theater that projects 70mm is.
