We finally get a look at footage today from Young Ones. Premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the directorial debut of Jake Paltrow is set in a dystopian future where a massive drought has made the country a wasteland, with water now the most valuable commodity. Michael Shannon and Nicholas Hoult play neighboring ranchers who soon come to blows over the protection of their respective families.
The trailer gives the impression that the film is adopting some of the more romantic notions of the classic western while marrying it with the harsh landscape and realities of a post-apocalyptic film – with tinges of sci-fi as well. It’s got a terrific cast as well with Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult, Elle Fanning and Kodi Smit-McPhee in the leads. Michael Shannon is one of my favorite working actors, his complexion fits the scenery of this film quite well, and we can easily expect a great performance from him. Young Ones currently has no release date in the US, but with a trailer release we can bet one will hopefully be announced soon. Check out the poster and trailer below.
