The idea of an N.W.A. biopic has been going through the production gears for years – a film myself and other fans of the group haveĀ been rooting for to get made – and now we have finally reached that glorious time where production is confirmed. Along with a nifty cast photo, the release date for the film is August 14th, 2015. Mark your calendars.
Directed by F. Gary Gray (Friday), he will reunite with Ice Cube along with Dr. Dre acting as producers for the film that will follow the rise of the historic rap group N.W.A. from Compton in the 1980s to becoming one of the most groundbreaking and influential rap artists of all time. Ice Cube has enlisted his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. to play his younger self, with Jason Mitchell playing Eazy-E and Corey Hawkins playing Dr. Dre. No word yet on the casting for MC Ren, DJ Yella or the short-time original member Arabian Prince. Check out the cast photo below.
