It feels like production has gone on as long as World War II itself for The Monuments Men, George Clooney’s film about a platoon of soldiers comprised of art historians and experts tasked with the job of saving irreplaceable and priceless artwork from getting destroyed by the Nazis. The historial action dramedy bands together Clooney, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Matt Damon and Hugh Bonneville, along with their French ally in Cate Blanchett.
While the film was originally slated to premiere this month, editing and effects issues pushed the production back — and out of contention for awards season. But, what can you do when a film just isn’t ready? Push back the release date, of course. Until then, check out this lengthy batch of stills from the artsy period piece, courtesy of The Playlist.
The Monuments Men is in theaters February 7.
