James Gray’s The Immigrant premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, but because of someone whose name rhymes with Schmarvy Schmeinstein, the movie has yet to see a release date. The film centers upon a polish immigrant (Marion Cotillard) who comes to the United States in the 1920s looking for a better life. What she finds is manipulation from a pimp (Joaquin Phoenix) and the desire to escape from his clutches with the help of a magician (Jeremy Renner).
Though it’s not likely we’ll be able to see the film until Spring 2014, new images have surfaced courtesy of The Playlist, giving us a glimpse of the dark and ornate world that Gray has crafted. Through beautiful costuming and intricate sets, this looks like one to watch out for come spring. Check out the images below:
