Maybe it’s just me getting old, but I’m starting to get fatigued by all these superhero films. Nevertheless DC has announced we will have plenty of theirs to watch over the next 6 years and some of it actually excites me, to my own surprise. Check out the news below.
- The Suicide Squad movie will come out in 2016 after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
- The Wonder Woman and Justice League movies will debut in 2017.
- The Flash film starring Ezra Miller and the Aquaman film starring Jason Momoa will hit screens in 2018.
- The Shazam film starring The Rock and Justice League 2 will hit the silver screen sometime in 2019.
So no specific release dates for any of these, but there’s some nuggets of intrigue here. First of all, I didn’t even know they had cast Ezra Miller as The Flash until just now, and that’s great news. I think Miller is incredibly talented and I’m happy to see him get a high-profile role like this. It’s also interesting that they’re committing to a Suicide Squad movie, and hopefully they can find the proper cast and filmmaker to bring the right amount of darkness and fun to this. More on this as it comes.
Update: Pretty much disregard everything above this.
- Zack Snyder will
ruindirect both Justice League films which will be titled Justice League Part One and Justice League Part Two. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Amy Adams are all locked in to return for Part One. Part One will be released on Nov. 17, 2017 while Part Two will be released on June 14th, 2019. - David Ayer has been confirmed to direct the Suicide Squad film which will open on Aug. 5th, 2016.
- Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot, will be released on June 23rd, 2017.
- The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, will hit theaters on March 23rd, 2018 while Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa will hit theaters on July 27th, 2018.
- Shazam, starring The Rock as villain Black Adam, will debut on April 5, 2019.
- Cyborg, starring Ray Fisher will be released April 3rd, 2020 while Green Lantern, which currently has no actor attached, will be released on June 19th, 2020.
So there you have it, all I will add from what I wrote earlier is that I’m intrigued to see what David Ayer can do with the Suicide Squad film, he’s crazy enough for that material. Judging by release dates, I imagine Wonder Woman will be the next film to get a writer and director so hopefully we’ll get the news on that soon.
