After sifting through 1,800 unique submissions, the Cannes film festival has finally released its official selection lineup of 49 films. The following will continue to be updated as they announce more titles. It should be noted that the prestigious festival, which runs from May 14 through the 25th, contains 15 films directed by women. If my rough calculations are correct, that’s about 11 more movies helmed by women than we’re going to receive from Hollywood in 2014.

This is a great line-up. A lot of great filmmakers and so many potentially good films to watch. I wish I could go.
