Alright, alright, alright it’s Friday and Warner Bros. has put out the second trailer for Interstellar for public consumption. The publicity campaign surrounding the film has been quiet over the last year with only the release of a teaser trailer, poster and a still of Matthew McConaughey to tide fans over.
The second trailer, attached to Godzilla, illuminates a little more of the plot that has been tightly under wraps. After a global food crisis ravages the Midwest, Cooper (McConaughey), an engineer/pilot/father of two, turns his focus on farming until an old mentor (Michael Caine) recruits him to join a hush-hush space mission. The goal of this mission? Finding another planet capable of sustaining human life.
Bloggers noticed similarities between Interstellar and Close Encounters of the Third Kind and it is hard to argue against it. There is a sense of optimism that hasn’t been present in Christopher Nolan’s past films. It shall be interesting to see if the resemblances continue in the finished film.
Rounding out the excellent cast are Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Ellen Burstyn and John Lithgow. Interstellar hits theatres and IMAX November 7th.
