Because no issue on the internet is really an issue until someone makes an infographic about it, here is an exceptionally thorough data visualization from the New York Film Academy examining gender inequality in American cinema.
There are lots of pretty charts and graphs that are actually quite depressing in how well they depict Hollywood’s persistent gender bias even when there is clear evidence to the contrary and that evidence made them over $300 million dollars.
The news isn’t all bad though. The infographic also includes women who are both currently working and on the rise in the film industry, as well as the effect they’ve had. Progress is good.
